Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Breathe different? Our private online sessions are structured with a sliding scale pricing model to accommodate individuals with varying financial capacities. We offer three distinct price points, allowing those with lower incomes to pay a reduced fee while enabling financially-resourced individuals to contribute at a higher level. This approach not only sustains our mission but also facilitates the provision of complimentary mindful sessions for individuals experiencing financial difficulties. By selecting an amount that aligns with your financial situation, you play a vital role in this important initiative for those in need.

Why is a sliding scale pricing model important? At our organization, we are pleased to provide a pricing structure that acknowledges the diverse needs of our clients. Our sliding scale for one-to-one services is designed to promote mutual aid and empower individuals within the community. By removing barriers, we aim to make mindfulness meditation accessible to a broader audience. Together, we can facilitate positive change and extend the benefits of mindfulness to all.

Why does your Private 1:1 Mindfulness Course have a 1 hour time slot? Great question! Your first session will last 1 hour, but the timing of our initial contact will be somewhat restricted to the timings you see on the booking calender. However, during your initial session, we will collaboratively set personalised schedule for the subsequent sessions, subject to availability.

What is Mindfulness meditation? Mindfulness meditation is a practice were we use a set of techniques to train attention and awareness to achieve mental clarity and emotional clam. Mindfulness is a way of training our attention to what is going on inside and outside ourselves, moment by moment, with an attitude of gentleness and acceptance.

What are the benefits of practising mindfulness meditation? Potential benefits include being more present and improving our quality of life while discovering the joy within normal routines. Developing confidence, greater patience, inner stability and awareness. To date, thousands of research papers have been published which show significant increases in memory processing, emotion regulation and perspective-taking. However, research is only in its infancy and we practice mindfulness to experience the richness of the human experience within the present moment and not to strive towards any mensurable outcomes.

Do I need previous experience? No. All classes and courses are beginner friendly, but more experienced practitioners are welcome too.

What do I bring to class? When you join us for a comfortable and cozy gathering, we recommend wearing warm clothing and perhaps bringing a drink to enjoy. Feel free to wear shoes or go barefoot, with thick socks being an optional choice in the chilly winter months. If you prefer sitting on the ground, bring a small cushion, but don’t worry—chairs will be provided!"

Mindfulness is proven to be beneficial for mental health and wellbeing in the right circumstances, but mindfulness practice session(s) are not ‘treatment’ for mental health problems or any addictions. If you are experiencing any mental health or medical problems, or have recently received or are currently receiving treatment for an ongoing mental health problem or addiction, we would strongly advise that you obtain advice from a qualified professional before processing further with our service at this time. The services we offer are for educational purposes only.

Is your course sutible for people who have experienced trauma? During session I prioritize a trauma-sensitive approach to learning. Our focus on being present and fostering resilience, without the need for physical adjustments or a 'fixing' mentality. Participants are encouraged to make choices throughout the practice, ensuring personalized experience. If at any point you feel triggered, please remember the importance of self-care and consider reaching to a trained healthcare professional for support.

I'm not religious, can I still practice mindfulness meditation? Yes you can practice mindfulness regardless of your beliefs or background. Mindfulness has its roots in Buddhism, but the meditation practices taught are completely secular. All that is required is to have an open mind and a sense of curiosity about the world around you.
